Hello John, It’s Edith

Written by Jane Upton as part of The Love Concept

“There was that middle aged couple. Sitting in that café when we were on our honeymoon. Sitting in silence. And I said ‘Never let us be like that, John.’ I made you swear. But you can’t imagine the future, can you? When you’re young like that.”
The care home have asked Edith to record her voice, as they say it might help her husband’s fading memory. Speaking into the silence, Edith recalls the past, and speaks of how she tries to fill her days.
